Pumpky and Bapa

Pumpky! A loud booming voice rang through the house. I abruptly left Bo and Dot in the kitchen and headed to his room thinking that Larry had called me for something only to find out that Al had heard my voice and wanted me front and center. It was just three days before he died. So strong, so much in command of his life and those around him even at the end.

Actually Al will never leave me. I know that for certain since my parent's and Roie's passing. They are always there, just over my left shoulder, urging me on, giving me guidance, helping me be a better wife, parent, friend. Case in point: August 29th, 7:30 am, 7th hole, 7 wood at the tee and I exclaimed "This one is for Al"- 1st drive and I hit the green within a few feet of the pin. I could feel Al cheering me on.

I feel truly blessed to be a part of the Allen family all these years - such zest for life, such honesty, such love.

Bapa's last words to me were "never vote for a person who has voted for war. Global Peace, Global Peace, that is what is important." And while we didn't always agree with one another, in fact he loved to "get me going" - on this one he is right on.

Love you Bapa!
