Susan: Father-in-Law
Al was the closest thing as to having my own Dad that I have ever known.
Just recently Al told me he remembered the day we met (over 30yrs.ago) and that he liked me instantly. You have to know it was mutual. Over the years and especially after Roie's passing we became closer and closer. I got to know his "quirks", enjoyed our talks, took most of his advice and best of all shared an unconditional love. He was the Go-To-Guy. If there was a fire, he was there with the hose, basement flooded, he's the guy with the bucket, but sick, and he wouldn't come near you with a 10 foot pole. Germs, you know?
Jeff and I so enjoyed being in Naples with Al and being able to swim with him in his pool. We would be in there for at least an hour at a time and he was the best swimmer (I'm the worst). He would hold court with the other swimmers and sunbathers and always engage them in conversation. When we left we knew where they were from, what the did, how many kids they had and where the older lady bought her kookie swimcap that "Dottie would look just great in". He would leave on his little scooter, towel around his neck, a box of Kleenex in the basket, a cap on his head and home to Dottie. I will miss him so much.
Happy Trails my friend,
Love,
Susan
